Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 41447
SB0123-41447r.jpg

This specimen was lot 41447 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Calenberg. Taler, 1697-RB. Zellerfeld Mint. Ernst August, as Bishop of Osnabrück. PCGS AU-55." This type, struck 1697-98 after Ernst August was promoted from duke to elector, is rather scarce. Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-6601; KM-382.5; Welter-1955.
