This specimen was lot 10296 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $282. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brandenburg. 2/3 Taler, 1689-LCS. NGC AU-55. Friedrich III (1688-1701)." This type was struck 1689 and is slightly scarcer than other gulden struck at the time. While thalers for the late 1600's are rare, gulden are numerous and come in many varieties.
