This specimen was lot 2139 in Sincona sale 77 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$146 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"GERMANY | Brandenburg.Prussia. Friedrich III. (I.), 1688-1713. 2/3 Taler 1690 BH, Magdeburg. Mit der Signatur BH (Bastian Hille, Münzmeister in Minden). Sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Brandenburg, Frederick III, 1688-1713, two thirds thaler of 1690, Magdeburg mint, with mintmaster's initials BH. Very fine.)"
This type was struck 1689-94 at Minden, where Bastian Hille was mintmaster 1682-1713. The products of this mint are scarcer than those of Berlin (KM 556) or Magdeburg (KM 557). The final third of the seventeenth century saw a profusion of issues of this denomination. See also issues from Cleve and Halberstadt.
