This specimen was lot 21037 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Bengal Presidency. Mohur, AH 1202//19 (1788). NGC MS-62. Oblique edge milling. Issued for the East India Company. An easy coin to become enamored with, bright fresh lustrous surfaces and sharp legends. A very appealing example of the type that has never seen circulation." These were struck by the British East India Company at the Bengal Presidency (Calcutta) in the name of the Mughal emperor. Similar gold mohurs were also struck in Murshidabad (KM 103.2).
