This specimen was lot 42387 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Bengal Presidency. Rupee, "AH 1202 Year 19" (1793-94). Calcutta (as "Murshidabad") Mint. in the name of Shah Alam. NGC AU-58. First Milled type, with narrow border. A pleasing nearly Mint example of this example type, with much retained Mint brilliance and refined eye appeal. A captivating Rupee, and examples of this type this nice seldom surface." These quarter rupees, half rupees and rupees were struck 1793-1818 at Calcutta and Murshidabad in the name of the Mogul emperor Shah Alam II.
