Jean Elsen sale 136, lot 1148

This specimen was lot 1148 in Jean Elsen sale 136 (Brussels, March 2018), where it sold for €230 (about US$338 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 2 centimes, 1849. Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper two centimes of 1849. Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1833-65 in large quantities but most dates before 1845 are scarce in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: 3,690,000, a commom date, tho not as common as 1856-65.

Specification: 3.6 g, copper.
