Jean Elsen sale 136, lot 1140

This specimen was lot 1140 in Jean Elsen sale 136 (Brussels, March 2018), where it sold for €440 (about US$646 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 10 centimes, 1848 sur 1838. BRAEMT F sans point. Rare. Superbe. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper ten centimes, 1848/38, without dot after BRAEMT F. Rare, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1832-33, 1835, 1838, 1841, 1847-49 and 1855-56 and while readily available in worn condition, is quite scarce nice. The overdate is priced lower than the regular date.

Recorded mintage: 777,000.
