This specimen was lot 1284 in Jean Elsen sale 156 (Brussels, September 2023), where it sold for €750 (about US$962 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), AR 1/4 de franc, 1849. L W sans point. Très rare. Très Beau. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, silver quarter franc of 1849, no dot in engraver's initials. Very rare, Very Fine.)"
This type of 1849-50 is rare. Earlier quarter francs featured a different bust of the king.
Recorded mintage: 101,000.
Specification: 1.25 g, 0.900 fine silver.
