Jean Elsen sale 141, lot 782

This specimen was lot 782 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it sold for €7,300 (about US$9,675 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), AR 1 franc, 1849. Tête nue. Extrêmement rare Petites taches. Petit coup sur la tranche. Flan poli. Superbe à Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, silver one franc of 1849, bare head. Extremely rare, small rim nick, Extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"

This rare type was struck 1849-50.

Recorded mintage: 41,000.
