Sincona sale 39, lot 4120

This specimen was lot 4120 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$168 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Leopold II. 1790-1792 1/4 Kronentaler 1791 A. Wien. Vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Leopold II, 1790-92, quarter crown thaler of 1791, Vienna mint. Extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1790-92 at Vienna (shown here), Günzburg and Kremnitz. This date is common.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 7.36 g, 0.873 fine silver, .206 troy oz ASW; this specimen is 7.35 g.

Catalog reference: KM 40 (listed under Austria, Austria-Netherlands altho none were made there), Herinek 51.
