Sincona sale 39, lot 4109

This specimen was lot 4109 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Joseph II. 1765-1790 1/2 Kronentaler 1789 A. Wien. Sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, half crown thaler of 1789, Vienna mint. Very fine.)"

This type was struck 1786-90 at Vienna (shown here), Brussels, Milan and Kremnitz. This date is common.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 14.72 g, 0.873 fine silver, .413 troy oz ASW; this specimen is 14.78 g.
