This specimen was lot 1642 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,078 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Josef II. 1765-1790. 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1788, A, Wien. RR Hübsche Patina, min. justiert, vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, half convention thaler of 1788, Vienna mint. Rare, fine patina, minor adjustment marks, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1781-90 yet is scarce compared to the contemporary half kronenthaler.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 14.07 g, 0.833 fine silver.
