Sincona sale 39, lot 4111

This specimen was lot 4111 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$168 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Joseph II. 1765-1790 1/2 Kronentaler 1790 M. Mailand. Sehr schön/vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, half crown thaler of 1790, Milan mint. Very fine/extremely fine.)"

This four year type struck for Joseph II 1786-90 is scarce. Full crocioni were struck for Francis II until 1800 and the loss of Milan to the French.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 14.72 g, 0.873 fine silver, .826 troy oz ASW; this specimen is 14.65 g.
