Sincona sale 90, lot 1612

This specimen was lot 1612 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,322 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Joseph II. 1765-1790. Dukat 1775 E, Karlsburg. Fast vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, ducat of 1775, Karlsburg mint. About extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1768-80 with numerous mintmarks (A, B, C, E, F, G, H, VS). Altho Friedberg lists this under Hungary, we have followed the SCWC and filed it under Austria.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.48 g.
