Künker sale 385, lot 3788

This specimen was lot 3788 in Künker sale 385 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,360 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Josef II. 1765-1790. Dukat 1775, A-CA, Wien. GOLD. R Vorzüglich/vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Erworben 1995 bei der Firma M. Meister. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph II, 1765-90, ducat of 1775, Vienna mint. Rare, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck for the emperor 1768-80 at Vienna (shown here), Karlsburg, Prague, Hall, Graz and Günzburg. It is not rare but it is less common than the ducats struck after his mother's death (KM 1873).
