Künker sale 335, lot 4662

This specimen was lot 4662 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €300 (about US$393 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH. Ferdinand II. 1592-1618-1637. 1/2 Reichstaler 1628, Wien. R Hübsche Patina, sehr schön +. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, thaler of 1628, Vienna mint. Scarce, handsome patina, very fine or better.)"

This type was struck 1624-37 and is the most common half thaler of the reign. Altho half thalers were struck at St. Polten, Graz and Hall, this seems to have been the only one issued in 1628.
