Künker Auction 441, lot 4737

This specimen was lot 4737 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €420 (about US$578 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand II., 1592-1618-1637. 1/4 Reichstaler 1628, Wien. R Feine Patina, Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön +. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, quarter thaler of 1628, Vienna mint. Rare, fine patina, edge defects, very fine or better.)"

This type was struck 1627-36. Most Austrian quarter thalers are rare; this one is only scarce.
