Künker Auction 426, lot 3082

This specimen was lot 3082 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €280 (about US$397 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand II., 1592-1618-1637. Reichstaler 1621, Graz. Variante mit der Jahreszahl auf der Rückseite. Sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, thaler of 1621, Graz mint, variety with the date on the reverse. Very fine.)"

This type was struck 1620-21 and is fairly common. Other Austrian thalers for 1621 include Dav-3076 (Vienna), Dav-3100 (Graz), Dav-3102 (shown here), Dav-3114 (Prague?), Dav-3115, Dav-3116 (Klagenfurt), Dav-3118, Dav-3119 (Klagenfurt), Dav-3120 (Klagenfurt), Dav-3121, Dav-3125 (Hall), Dav-A3125 (Hall), Dav-A3147, Dav-3328 (Hall), Dav-3329 (Hall), Dav-3330 and several double thalers. Altho it is a one year type, this product of the Graz mint is only slightly scarce.
