This specimen was lot 711 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $282. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Amanullah, 1919-1929, AV tilla, AH1337, crossed swords beneath the mosque, Unc." This rare one year type was equal to ten Afghan rupees or slightly more than four Indian rupees. Coins of this period are sometimes dated on the traditional Muslim calendar, as here, or on the Solar Hegira calendar, which starts on the same date as the traditional Hegira calendar but uses solar years rather than lunar years.
