Afghanistan AH 1337 rupee KM-867
The first specimen was lot 3583 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Amanullah, 1919-1929, AR rupee, AH1337, a lovely lustrous example! PCGS graded MS63, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection." The second specimen was lot 3586 in the sale same, where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Amanullah, 1919-1929, AR rupee, AH1337, an attractive mint-state example, PCGS graded MS61, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection." Milled coinage was introduced to Afghanistan during the reign of Abdur Rahman (1880-1901). This type was struck AH 1337 only. Varieties exist; we show two here.
