Stephen Album sale 50, lot 3578

This specimen was lot 3578 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Amanullah, 1919-1929, AE shahi, AH1337, 12 stars on the obverse, 11 on the reverse; thin flan, bold VF, R, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection." Milled coinage was introduced to Afghanistan during the reign of Abdur Rahman (1880-1901). This type was struck AH 1337 only in thin (shown here) and thick flan varieties (KM 859). One shahi was fifty dinars.
