This specimen was lot 712 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $440.63. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Amanullah, 1919-1929, AV 2 amani, SH1299, Unc." This scarce type struck SH1299-1303 was equal to twenty Afghan rupees or not quite nine Indian rupees. Coins of this period are sometimes dated on the traditional Muslim calendar, or on the Solar Hegira calendar, as here, which starts on the same date as the traditional Hegira calendar but uses solar years rather than lunar years.
