Afghanistan SH1298 2 tilla
This specimen was lot 13 in Sincona sale 54 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$476 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Amanullah Khan, 1919-1929. 2 Tilla 1298 SH (1919). Gutes sehr schön. (Afghanistan, Amanullah Khan, 1919-1929, double tilla of SH 1298, Good very fine.)"
This rare one year type was equal to twenty Afghan rupees or slightly more than eight Indian rupees. Coins of this period are sometimes dated on the traditional Muslim calendar, or on the Solar Hegira calendar, as here, which starts on the same date as the traditional Hegira calendar but uses solar years rather than lunar years.
