from the Stack's Bowers 2019 NYINC sale, lot 42453
China SB119-42453r.jpg

This specimen was lot 42453 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 25 Yuan, 1991. Panda Series. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Bimetallic: 1/4 oz gold and 1/8 oz silver. Brilliant with hard mirror fields and frosted cameo devices." China, in its endless series of panda-themed NCLT's, experimented with bimetallic issues. They must not have met expectations as they were later discontinued.

Recorded mintage: 2,000 proofs.

Specification: 7.78 g, bimetallic.

Catalog reference: Fr-B52; KM-348; PAN-159a.
