Holland 1748 2 ducats Fr-248
This specimen was lot 34041 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Holland. Provincial gold 2 Ducat 1748 MS63 NGC. A wholly appreciable representative of a somewhat uncommon type in Mint State status, witnessed here with fully Choice appearances elevated by an exacting strike and a lovely apricot patina. Both a conditional and aesthetic outlier for the series. From the Coenen Collection." This subtype was struck 1671-74, 1687, 1694, 1716-48. Double ducats were struck for the province of Holland until 1793.
