Holland 1746 ducaton Dav-1827
This specimen was lot 71750 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. Ducaton, 1746. Dordrecht Mint. PCGS Genuine--Scratch, AU Details. A fairly SCARCE and alluring type, this specimen displays the noted scratch at the end of the horse's tail. Additionally, the final digit in the date (6) appears to be over a "7," with the top crossbar of the latter number seemingly visible." This denomination is recorded from Holland 1716-92 and this subtype with the rose mintmark 1734, 1741-50, 1754-56. Holland was the largest and wealthiest part of the United Provinces, now the kingdom of the Netherlands.
