This specimen was lot 3238 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $3,290. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. 14 Gulden, 1749. PCGS MS-63. First year of issue for type. Beautiful sharp strike with silky satin lustrous surfaces throughout. A small handful of very tiny contact marks are the only signs of handling. Very attractive and choice for the type. Tied with one other example in this grade for second finest certified with one piece graded one point finer." This type is recorded for 1749-51, 1761-63 only and is not common.
