from Künker sale 352, lot 1351

This specimen was lot 1351 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,644 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NIEDERLANDE, HOLLAND, Provinz. 2 Dukaten 1718. GOLD. Henkelspur, sehr schön. (Netherlands, province of Holland, double ducat of 1718. Mount mark, very fine.)"

The province of Holland struck single and double ducats throughout the eighteenth century but this seems to be an unlisted date in the major references.

Recorded mintage: unknown but presumably rare.

Specification: 6.98 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 6.88 g.

Catalog reference: KM 47.1 (unlisted date), Delm-zu 773 (unlisted date); Fr-248; Purmer/van der Wiel zu Ho 14 (unlisted date).
