Holland 1719 2 stuivers
This specimen was lot 73297 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. 2 Stuivers, 1719. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. The finer of just two graded in the PCGS census, this brilliant Gem offers tremendous radiance and luster, along with an alluring, subtle tone." The circulation issue (KM 48) was struck in debased silver 1672-83, 1697-1739, 1744-93. The gold issue (KM 48a) was struck to ducat weight 1723-66, most likely for presentation. Other minors, including the scheepjesschelling (six stuivers), were also struck in gold. Dubbelwapenstuiver means "double shield stuiver".
