This specimen was lot 8140 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $1092.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 1/2 Real, 1843/2-GaJG. NGC MS-65." This specimen was struck at the Guadalajara mint in 1843, one of a type struck there 1825-62. Assayer JG is listed for 1842-62. The SCWC also lists assayer MC for the year.
