This specimen was lot 24482 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $14,100. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IV gold 8 Escudos 1789 NG-M, AU50 PCGS. Slight even wear throughout, with even orange-gold toning but a problem-free and appealing specimen. A very rare two-year type, being the only milled issue missing from the Eliasberg collection." This is the first eight escudos from Guatemala since 1785 and the next issue would be in 1794.
