Stack's Bowers September 2025 ANA sale, lot 43390
SB825-43390r.jpg

This specimen was lot 43390 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Franc, Year 12-T (1803/4). Nantes Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS EF-40. Standing rather unsurprisingly as the sole representative of the type in the PCGS census, this RARITY also features mildly circulated yet problem-free surfaces. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Maurice Doiron in Paris on 12 October 1994 for $230)." This type was struck years 12-14 and the Paris mint product is moderately common. In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed.

Recorded mintage: 3,462, a rare date, plus 45,918 of the PREMIER CONSUL type (F.200/19).

Specifications: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 23 mm diameter, decorated edge.

Catalog reference: KM-656.13; Gad-443; F.201/11.
