Áureo y Calicó sale 346, lot 1144

This specimen was lot 1144 in Áureo y Calicó sale 346 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €320 (about US$422 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"s/d. Felipe II. Burgos. 2 reales. Resto de soldadura en canto. Muy rara. MBC+. (kingdom of Spain, Philip II, 1556-98, undated two reales, Burgos mint. Solder mark on edge, very rare, choice very fine.)"

The plate coin in Cayón (Cayón-3576) shows assayer M, which is missing from this example.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.931 fine silver, this specimen 5,85 g.
