Sincona sale 67, lot 4208

This specimen was lot 4208 in Sincona sale 67 (Zürich, October 2020), where it sold for 75 CHF (about US$99 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN | Qajar Dynasty | Nâsir al-dîn Shâh, 1264-1313 H./1848-1896 AD, Machine struck coinage, always with the mint name Tihrân, copper coins. 100 Dinars 1307 H. Weak strike but lustrous, thus very fine."

This copper coin was struck AH 1297-1308 and 1313 plus various bungled dates. One shahi was fifty dinars. With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran.
