Sincona sale 67, lot 4165

This specimen was lot 4165 in Sincona sale 67 (Zürich, October 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN | Qajar Dynasty | Nâsir al-dîn Shâh, 1264-1313 H./1848-1896 AD, Machine struck coinage, always with the mint name Tihrân, silver coins. 1/4 Qiran 1307 H. Titles and name in wreath, mint below, rev. lion and sun above value in wreath, date below. Rare date. Extremely fine."

This silver coin was struck AH 1294-1311 and this is a better date. One quarter kran was 250 dinars and was about the size of a half dime. With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran.

Specification: 1.15 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 1.14 g.
