This specimen was lot 25388 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Utrecht. Gold 7 Gulden 1760, MS62 NGC, a nice lustrous coin with sharply struck details, very bright and attractive." Each province of the Netherlands issued its own coins; besides Utrecht, there are coins for Deventer, Friesland, Gelderland, Groningen (Fr-245), Holland, Overijssel, West Friesland and Zeeland, not counting various local issues. Utrecht issued this denomination 1749-51 and 1760-63 along with a fourteen gulden (Fr-288). The Netherlands were swallowed up in Napoleon's empire and after his fall, reconstituted as a kingdom.

Recorded mintage: 347,000.

Specification: 4.96 g, 0.917 fine gold, .146 troy oz AGW.
