This specimen was lot 41232 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $5,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Utrecht. 14 Gulden, 1760. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. The single finest certified of the date on the PCGS population report, none finer. A bright and lustrous example displaying deep golden color with an amber orange iridescent hue that pops out when tilted in the light. This highly attractive near-Gem survivor offers much originality with fantastic eye appeal worthy or serious consideration from advanced collectors." This expensive type is listed for 1749-51 and 1760-63. It was the largest gold coin regularly issued in the United Provinces.
