This specimen was lot 34068 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zeeland. Provincial gold 7 Gulden 1760 MS63 NGC. A lovely example from this fleeting series that features the popular motif of a knight on horseback. Choice for the type, with lightly-reflective fields and all-over harvest gold color." This type, called a "half golden rider," was struck by the various United Provinces of the Netherlands in the mid eighteenth century; Zeeland made this type 1760-64.

Recorded mintage: 272,000 for 1760-64 (including 14 gulden).
