Ponterio sale 168, lot 40485

This specimen was lot 40485 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $3,819. The catalog description[1] noted, "CUBA. Peso, 1916. Mintage of only 50 pieces. NGC PROOF-62. From the EMO Collection." This date is not rare in circulated condition but is quite expensive in uncirculated. The type was also struck 1932-34.

Recorded mintage: 843,000 plus 500 proofs.

Specification: 26.73 g, 0.900 fine silver, .773 troy oz AGW, 38 mm diameter.
