This type was struck 1915-16 at the Philadelphia mint during a brief sugar boom in Cuba. Most of the mintage remained in bank vaults to back paper money and the type is rarely seen in circulated condition. Gold one, four, five, ten and twenty pesos were also issued.
Recorded mintage: 150,000.
Specification: 3.34 g, 0.900 fine gold, .096 troy oz AGW, reeded edge.
