This type was struck in the United States for Cuba 1915-20 using nickel blanks. Unlike the pesos, this denomination circulated extensively. This date is scarce. The catalog does not record the "low relief star" and "high relief star" varieties noted for the larger silver denominations.

Recorded mintage: 1,714,000 plus 150 proofs.

Specification: 5 g, copper-nickel, 21 mm diameter, plain edge.
