Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Guanajuato is common. This specimen was lot 9177 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $546.25. The catalog description^[1] noted, “MEXICO. Guanajuato. 50 Centavos, 1870-GoS. Sharply struck. NGC MS-62.”

Specification: 13.54 g, .903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.

Recorded mintage: 166,000.
