This specimen was lot 31379 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold Escudo 1816 Mo-JJ AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint. Attractive[ly] patinated with a limited amount of friction atop the higher points. Nearly Mint State and highly-collectible as such. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." This type was struck 1814-21 and is usually seen in VF-EF or lower. Jewelry damage is common.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.875 fine gold, .095 troy oz AGW.
