Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Culiacan is rare; it is priced over twelve times that of a common Guanajuato issue. High grade specimens may not exist for this date. This specimen was lot 9147 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Culiacan. 50 Centavos, 1871-CnP. RARE date. One small edge flaw. VERY FINE.”

Specification: 13.54 g, .903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
