This specimen was lot 30370 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $3,000. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Cuba, Republic gold Proof "Tania La Guerrillera" 100 Pesos 1989 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. Mintage: 150. Struck in commemoration of Tania La Guerrillera. From the El Don Diego Luna Collection." The year 1989 saw the release of many self-congratulatory NCLT's by the regime along with such essentially Cuban topics as the fall of the Bastille and the first Spanish railway. Greeted by disinterest from the world at large, many are now rare. Wikipedia notes, "Haydée Tamara Bunke Bider (1937-67), better known as Tania or Tania the Guerrilla, was an Argentine-born East German communist revolutionary and spy who played a prominent role in the Cuban government after the Cuban Revolution and in various Latin American revolutionary movements. She fought alongside Marxist guerrillas under Che Guevara during the Bolivian Insurgency (1966–1967) where she was killed in an ambush by CIA-assisted Bolivian Army Rangers."
