This specimen was lot 2735 in Goldberg sale 100 (Los Angeles, September 2017), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. 50 Centavos, 1884-AS L. Balance scale. Very scarce date. Probably the finest example graded at NGC. NGC graded VF-30." Shown is a balance scale fifty centavos, of a type struck 1869-1895. This issue from Alamos is a rare date for the mint, which produced the type intermittently 1875-88. Other mints include Hermosillo, Mexico City, Durango, Culiacan, Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Zacatecas and Potosi.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .393 troy oz ASW.
