This specimen was part of lot 23861 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,175. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brunswick-Luneburg. Lot of Five Talers, Two of the Stallion type, 1650 and 1724. Three St. Andrews type, 1707, 1721 and 1749. One is tooled, another is cleaned, yet overall, an attractive VF-XF grouping. From The J.G. Collection." This type depicting St. Andrew with his cross is recorded for 1730-60. The Duchy of Brunswick was divided and subdivided in the seventeenth century but was eventually reassembled as the Kingdom of Hannover before being absorbed into Prussia in 1866.
