This specimen was lot 31452 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. George II August Goldgulden or 2 Taler 1749-S MS62 NGC. An attractive example of a type that doesn't often come up for sale, especially in such a desirable grade. A little bit of weak striking, but still clearly a Mint State coin. From the Collection of a Berkshire Gentleman." The goldgulden was nominally equal to a ducat but was slightly lighter and lower in purity. This type was struck 1749-54 and was worth two thalers as the reverse states. Quarter, half, two and four goldgulden were also issued.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Catalog reference: KM 301, Fr-611.
