Hannover 1749-IBH thaler Dav-2098
This specimen was lot 2447 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 3,250 CHF (about US$4,899 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum. Georg II. 1727-1760. Taler 1749, Zellerfeld. Ausbeute der Grube Cronenburgs Glück. Münzmeister Johann Benjamin Hecht. NGC MS63. Prachtvolle Erhaltung mit herrlicher Patina. (Germany, electorate of Hannover, George II, 1727-60, thaler of 1749, Zellerfeld mint, for the Cronenburg's Luck mine. Beautiful condition with magnificent patina.)"
This mining thaler was issued four times 1745-52; a similar thaler honoring the same mine is known from Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (Dav-2160).
