This specimen was lot 73616 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 4 Mariengroschen, 1749-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg II August (George II of Great Britain). PCGS AU-58. A lustrous dove gray example with pleasing hints and splashes of cobalt. This coin offers a well-rendered Wild Man figure despite the diminutive size of the palette. Well-struck and an overall very pleasing piece. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck virtually without interruption 1730-60. Mintmaster IBH served 1739-62.
